In this video I'm going through every step I took to swap my old steering wheel for my new one. I encountered a few common issues along the way such as trying to find the springs to release the air bag And also the snapping of some crucial plastic sections.

Every issue I encountered I've also fixed, so watch the whole video to find out exactly how I did it.

Thanks mate! I just wanted to make something that was more comprehensive than the other videos I could find online. I'm in no way an expert but it's the sort of video I wish existed when I was looking for all this stuff. It's the little things like finding the springs and what to do once your plastic trims have snapped etc

Great video, only one comment (constructive) and that is you only need to disconnect the - negative battery terminal, there's no gain by disconnecting both.

Ah yes! Well, belt and braces, you know ;)

Great Video, Royal steering wheel for Xmas so video a god send, thanks again

Great vid, shows all the steps involved in a logical easy to follow sequence. I am hoping to upgrade my worn wheel over the winter and had always been nervous about removing the air bag. Just a thought about disconnecting the battery, does the Z4 have a radio code which may be lost if the battery was disconnected for long periods?

No, it doesn’t.

One thing you want to do is get a piece of round steel of the diameter needed to push back the airbag clips and file a rounded groove across the end. It makes removing the clips easier as you can “feel” it engage with the clips.
