howdy to all the petrol heads out there...
I bought my S52 M Roadster this summer while looking for an old British sports car... had in mind a Healy or Triumph or MG maybe... not a garage queen... a rag top to drive in Michigan summer... been awhile since I'd owned a convertible...
Found a nice 52K mile example that needed a few small things, but mostly just love... had been previously owned by a woman in Florida... passed the pre purchase test with flying colors but will need a clutch one of these days...
wheels were a bit oxidized so I had them refinished in piano black to go with the silver ext and red/black interior...
love to drive this car... a lot like old Healys and TR6s (long hood/short trunk, big six, manual, analog gauges, sound of a big in-line six, etc) but better (top that keeps out rain, fantastic discs all round, 5 Spd, some electronic helpers, air bags, decent sound system, etc)... as a bonus the M doesn't leak oil from everything, including I swear the electrical system, as most of my British cars did...
a 6 speed would be great for highway use, but that's not the purpose really...
these are good cars that can be had at bottom of the barrel prices at this point. while the S54 would be nice I'm sure, they are pricier... I have not felt the burning need for more power at all... just a sweet ride on those days we have sweet weather...
she's in storage for the winter now... will post a picture of car with repainted wheels when she comes out...

Hi Dave, welcome from near Lincoln UK. I use my Z4 all year round so I know you will be looking forward to Spring in Michigan. Hope you enjoy your new toy.

Tony.

ps. You can't really compare these cars with old British sports cars apart from the dimensions being similar. These are much more reliable.

Welcome to the forum, I bought my first Z3 with similar thoughts, loved old British sports cars but wanted a car that could live outside and be reliable. Ended up with a German car built in the states. :racecar:
