So who hasn't had the rear view mirror fall off? Wow, that many..

Ok, so for the ones that have had it fall off, what have you found to be the best product to stick it back on again?

I tried the pads and sticking just the fixing plate back to the window. When I came to twist the mirror back on though, becuase it is a pad, the pad just twisted with it and moved. If I use the pads again I would need to stick it up with the mirror attached.

I'm currently looking at the Loctite 319 but want to see what you can recommend. Thanks.

That's where I got the idea of the loctite from :)
Loctite appears to make a mirror mounting specific adhesive I would try to purchase something like this as it is made for the job you want to do and is more likely to give you the results you want.
Stephen.

Then again after just reading a couple of reviews on the loctite stuff maybe not.:eek::eek:

Yep I have the same issue. Tried different things and the mirror is still sat in a draw in the garage.

Never had a problem with the rear view mirror coming off, or is this an isolated case and my car is 23 next year!

We used Loctite glass adhesive on Chrysler cars back in the 70's and it worked very well. BUT the glass needed to be warm and dry. Stick the base on and leave 24hrs. Lubricate the slide grooves before fitting the mirror.

Tony.

Clean both surfaces with meths in reasonable ambient temps and use the proprietory double sided pad (they are very thin) which is designed to allow the mirror to break away in an accident should an occupant hit it.

Mine fell off in August, used the loctite to glue the tab back to the windscreen then left it 24 hours to cure and reattached the mirror back on. So far, so good. I made sure I got all the old adhesive off the windscreen and mounting tab with a new stanley blade. Don't try and stick it back together with the mirror attached as it's too heavy.

Mine just fell off and cracked the windscreen slightly under the glue! Argh....

Will look into the lock tight glass glue.

Mine fell off in February. I tried some special glue but it didn't work, probably to cold. However this two part epoxy worked fine https://www.wilko.com/gorilla-epoxy...u1BO3Ha6Rnvi_1zzb3IaAv_9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds stick the back plate on first. Hold it in place for the required length of time. Then leave it for several hours or even a day to set fully. I taped it in ace after I finished holding it in place as it was still trying to move.
