New sport seats

Great bargain !! Just the colour combo i'm after ! Great find be nice to see them done and installed :thumbsup:

It'll be worth it in the end Andy:thumbsup:. I find the sport seats are very very comfy, I can drive for hours and hours with no problem. After about an hour in the Z4 we had, I'd get terrible back ache:(
 
Cheers guys, I still undecided about black/grey inner or all black. I love the rest of my interior so really should stay with all black but the seats seem to be crying out to remain two colour, bloody decisions.

I would love to see the seats after all then treatment, I too would like to refurb my seats. I hit them with a steamer with a microfibres cloth wrapped around it and it's taken a lot of the creases out but I be made a mess off the seat with a cleaner I used. So now will have to be re coloured. :shifty:

Hi, will post some pics when I,ve finished, these may be premature words but the Gliptone colouring system looks fairly straight forward. Just waiting for the time to do them now, I was planning on doing one at a time starting with the passenger seat, seems to be the most sensible approach for a first attempt at taking out and refitting.

Andy, a very important thing is DO NOT turn your ignition key once the seat is removed.:( Unless you have a air bag light reset tool. In fact a good tip is to put your keys back in the house as soon as you've removed the seat fixing bolts, even before removing the electrical connectors. HTH.

Speaking from experience here...:rage:

Cheers, was thinking I had to disconnect the battery as the seat still moves back and forward with the ignition off.

I didn't disconnect the battery on the many times I've removed the seats, just leave the keys in your house or give them to your missus under strict instructions to not give them back till your finished ;)

Well had a bit of time to start re-dying the seats, there was a small tare in the drivers bolster so packed it with wadding and then flexifil apparently it won't crack or fall out, we shall see.

Then cleaned the seats with the two cleaners provided and sanded the bolster down, this gave a good surface to start applying the first coat. This is now drying so will post some pics of the finished seat tomorrow when the top semi-matt coats have been applied, a quick pic of the new colour.

This is just the sponged base coat at the mo I started on the drivers as it was in the poorest condition and so far seems to be very good. Happy to have kept the grain in the seat.

Looking good it easier yhan you think when your contemplating it and as you say its the prep that takes the time .Have just sent off colour samples to liquid leather to get a match as the colour i had from them is very close.
Will order a 500ml kit one colour going to see how it goes and have a toner to tone it down to a lighter shade for the two tone i'd like.
Top job looking forward to the full finished product.:thumbsup:

Hi, thanks I went for Furniture Clinic in the end a friend had used this product and said it gave a natural finish. At the moment it could not be simpler, could be famous last words but this is very easy it makes me wonder why I have not done this before.

Well got one finished, made a bit of a school boy error though. I had two bottles of finish one gloss one matt figured it was a choice of which one to use. Apparently not it seems, oh well just used the matt finish so see what happens, worst case I re-do if the colour starts to go. I then completely ignored the instructions and used a leather balm on the seat, they say 10 days but nothing transferred to the cloth so hopefully looking good. The repair to the bolster looks ok so all in £110 for the seats and dye.

Will start the passenger next weekend and use all the stages this time see if there is any difference.

Wow, thats a massive improvement, my black seats are in need of a furb, no tears but lots of creasing and some scratches on the drivers base, what balm did you use to remove the creases
 
Hi, I just fed the seats with a furniture balm from TK Max 99p after a couple of applications the creases started to go there are a couple I can't get rid of. Ian also going to re-do the bolster the flexifil works well but the wadding I used can be seen so will get the passenger fitted next weekend and then sort out the driver.
