My Custom Hand Brake

Very impressive DIY skills

Centre consul wouldn't be too much of a problem, just a vac bag, pump, veneer, glue, yacht varnish all these things can be hired and purchased .... oh yeh I forgot the bit you cant hire or buy ..... the skill set to get it all looking great :whistle::whistle:=)) .

I don't intend using veneer:whistle: and if I did I would do it littlefeller style, like not bothering with a pump, all I would use is a 45 gallon drum, fill it with water, attach vac pipe to top of filled barrel, attach to vacbag with the job inside then open the tap at the bottom of the barrel, you might need a u bend at the tap to stop it taking in air, instant vac press. or I just hydrodip the console and save myself tons of work and using that glue must be right messy, I would get in a right state, probably smells nice though:)

Very nice work, just shows what can be done.... with a bit of thought...

Looks great, let's see it installed please! JIM

Tomorrow, maybe the day after, I'm still applying yacht varnish. :)

Trust me, when it's ready, its going on and I'll upload a pic right away, I can't wait :D

Great skills & what better way to personalize your motor.

we need fitted pictures!
Its still drying! And I want to put another coat on, perfection takes time ;)

I didn't think it would take this long to be honest.... I'm not used to working with yacht varnish, it will be 3 more days I think!

Oh by the way, I am planning on manufacturing these and selling them as I seriously can not find anywhere on the internet that sells custom handbrake covers from solid wood, so I may have found a little niche in the market. Hopefully there is a demand somewhere :)

UPDATE:

still not dry o_O haha, sorry boys and girls, soon... soon

This is mine, I did manage to source online but it took some serious hunting down and came from far and distant lands. Wasn't cheap either! You go for it Pete, much rather buy stuff from forum members where possible.

Okayy, so I have taken a lot longer than I initially though, mainly due to the fact that I had varnish that took a long time to set because it was old, anyway, I've got some new varnish and its pretty much done, I'm just going to do one more layer, but its there :) here you go :) hope you all like it, I do!

I'll upload some close ups of the grain once I've done the final layer ;)
