Monroe Reflex or Bilstein B4?

Have just ordered a set of Eibach Pro lowering springs from German eBay.

Question is, what shocks? Want to keep the spec fairly oem, just lowered a little and some added road holding. Choice is down to Monroe Reflex or Bilstein B4s.

Recommendations?

Any links to a any good prices also appreciated (or if you have a set for sale let me know)

Billys have a great rep but you pay the price for that, I put Reflex shocks on my last Z and they where that good I have a set for the 2.8
 
I brought bilstein and can not fault them not the cheapest by far but been very happy with them.
 
I'm leaning towards the Bilstein's as they're not massively more money.
Update: just ordered a full set of B4's from Demon Tweeks.

Did a quick comparisons of side profile drop with your car, 5harp3y. Since I'm going for the same setup. Your car with B4 shocks and Eibach Pro -30mm springs vs my current standard oem suspension setup.

Hopefully the potholes and speedhumps of south London won't cause me too much grief!

I'm also looking into this at present. Two options I have identified for the Z3 are:
1. Bilstein B12 pro kit (includes Bilstein B8 shocks). Provides 30mm drop for £694.
2. Koni sport suspension kit, again 30mm drop for £696.
Haven't a clue how to compare these options though?:thumbsup:

Koni yellows are adjustable (damping)
Bilstein B8 are monotube (upside down) shocks which a meant to last longer

either will be a fantastic setup

ive never had any problems with speedbumps / potholes even with the splitter fitted

There is a member from Germany with a grey Z4 who just changed the B8’s (which failed very quickly surprisingly) He now has Koni dampers, I forget his name but it’s mm....something he said Koni is a better quality. Always heard good things on both brands (but US forums have very different opinions to UK on these brands...)

I hope it was a one-off with the Bilsteins failing as I’ve put B8’s on the family bus which were good value from Germany but still more than OEM/B4 but I needed the uprated shocks as the bus gets loaded fully and is known to bottom out on stock stuff...always read good reviews about Bilstein but it’s always when they are new so time will tell...

If one is adjustable damping and the other is not I’d take the adjustable as it’s very useful I find especially in a ‘all weather/daily’ as you can tweak it ‘just so’ for the roads you frequent (and softer in winter and firmer in summer is a thing!)
