Leaking door membranes

I'm currently in the process of hunting down a rather large water leak, the passenger side carpet was saturated and I could hear the water moving around under it. I've found water leaking in through both door membranes, so I have bought some new OEM membranes. What sort of sealant or adhesive would you recommend?

Part number for the right door is 51488410038, and the left door is 51488410037

They are fitted to door with a butyl sealer something like this.

Butyl Sealant Tape 8mm X 6 Meter High Performance Class A Certified by NFRC | eBay

Butyl Sealant Tape uses. Apply this tape directly from the reel onto one surface, and press sufficiently along its whole length to achieve a good initial adhesion. High tack providing excellent adhesion.

It doesn't really set its like super sticky stretchy chewing gum don't get it where you don't want it.
