Hello everyone! As a new member of Zroadster, I really look forward to learning a thing or two about the Z models. I have done very little research about the Z models, which is why I decided to go to this forum to learn more about it.

My interest in the Zs started when my friends bought BMWs like the E28, E30, E32, and E90. At first, I never really liked BMWs but after I looked at the cars, I started liking them and eventually ended up wanting to own one. However, I wanted to own something more unique, and in my opinion, it has to be the Z3.

Why do I want to buy a Z? I'm not from the U.S and in my home country, cars like the BMW Z3 can cost twice as much as in the U.S, regardless if it has low or high mileage. I figured if cars like the Z3 is cheaper in the U.S, why don't I just buy them here instead? I'm also an international student graduating in 2 years' time so why not just buy a Z3 and have fun with it?

Currently, I'm eyeing for a 1997 BMW Z3 2.8 M/T. I'm not really looking for a particular color, specific wheel, or other stuff, but I really want a manual. I have looked around the web and found a 1997 BMW Z3 2.8 for sale and most importantly, it's a manual. According to the website, the car has 84,000 miles and they're asking for 9K. If I pull the trigger, it'll be the oldest car I have ever owned. Should I do it?

:welcome: Hi and welcome to ZroadSter :coolsteer)
:scorecard: Get a Z , once your had one you will never buy a different car

Hi and welcome from Dunstable. I bought my first Z3 six months ago and don't regret it. They are twenty years old now but that is part of the attraction to me. For the money it's hard to find a better looking car. I was torn between the Z3 and Z4 and I think both a brilliant cars. Just remember they are twenty years old and give any purchase a good look over. Most on here are in the UK where are you.

Hi, welcome from Mansfield - UK

Where about scare you located?

Prices for Z3s vary greatly from continent to continent.

I currently own both a ‘97 1.9 manual, and a ‘97 2.8 manual. The difference in driving them is huge. But both only cost me £1.5k each.

:welcome:to the forum from West Cumbria, England. £9k is a fair chunk of money, not sure where in the World you are? Great cars and a great choice.

Hello and welcome to the forum

Hi and welcome from Leicestershire uk, are you looking at convertible or coupe?

Hello welcome to the forum. We are very lucky here in UK that most 20yr old cars are quite low price.

9k seems way over priced, I currently have a manual 2.8 with 79k that I will probably be selling, 3 owners with history and last owner 18 years, it is in the body shop currently undergoing a renovation of all panels

And still going.
Whereas a lot of cars will have reached their sell by dates long ago.
Zs are modern classics.

I agree, I can drive round all day and hardly see any cars the age of mine. Most have been scraped years ago. Zeds were built to last compared with a lot of other cars of the same age. the only thing that surprises me is the lack of anyone specialising in them selling all the bells and whistles. When I had an Mx5 there were a few company's like "mx5parts.co.uk" specialising in all the service items and customising bits.

I doubt we’ll see new cars around in 20+ years and as to the Tesla cars...well...

The new Tesla roadster will do 0-60mph in less than two seconds. But where will you be able to drive like that. The fastest production car in the world is about to become electric!

They should concentrate on speeding up my washing machine.
