Ex Z4 owner looking for Z3

There's a red 1998 2.8 on Gumtree 19600 miles £1650 ONO up in West Yorkshire.
 
Hikvision and welcome. So why was the z4
disasterous
 
Bought it in July for £4400 with plate worth £1500. The upper electric power steering failed after 6 months. New part from BMW £2500 plus vat !. Took it to a specialist who charged £500 to tell me they could not fix it. In the end I converted it to a hydraulic system myself but I was really too old to be doing that sort of work. Then the thermostat housing failed so i ended my relationship. A good car but the electronics are fragile and costly.
 
Don't be put off by one bad one. I know a member who has had his for around 6 years a 2004and never really had any issues. We have had ours for 4 years with no issues a 2008
 
Looks like a tidy old Z3 good miles and history, have a look and offer £2600,
 
Hi Raymond the car looks nice a few little bits but a clean example bar the scuff mentioned.
Sill ends are something to check in a z3 they tend to hold dirt over time and rot out so worth checking.
The windscreen surround looks like its covered in a black vinyl the early cars where ,its starting to peel/ is coming off in the pictures but it can be removed the car is normally body colour underneath.
Check the boot left side near the back light the grommit sometimes perishes for the ariel and its an area that holds water but some of the alarm sensors sit in it so can cause issues if full of water.
Generally it will all be felt in the drive its got low mileage so as long as its looked after it will run and run.

I went on mot history check short mot due April
I would also say get a proper look at it with someone who knows what they are doing mot history a bit ropey failed twice in a week or so last year 2nd time on something that didn't fail on initial test .then milage appears to have been incorrectly entered on the pass
Its failed a few of its tests on a number of things with a number of advisory

Thanks for all your replies. Unfortunately a cheap £1.89 check reveals she was a Cat D write off. The search continues !!!!
