Bognor Lean-to Project

I have a stick welder but not used it that much so not confident in making a good weld. Or I might consider doing exactly that!!!

I think the extractor socket is a good option as a first line of attack 👍

I would also be wary of trying those screw in extractors, they break very easily in my experience, I would weld a nut to the heads and try undoing them with a socket and a breaker bar or impact gun.

Started this morning at 9.30......

9.55......screws of doom !!!!!!!

The little buggers are out and on the bench :D:D:D
Tapped on an extractor socket bought yesterday and they all came undone.
Can’t tell you what a relief it is....
Right onwards and upwards =))

gripped it and you can see where it dug in

Yes they are obsolete now. I bought some alternatives when I did the 1.9 last year ( pk 20) unfortunately gave them to other members , ( didn’t think I would need them ) but I will be getting some more so if you need 4 let me know.

That would be great, I'm not in a great hurry for them, probably do the job in the summer, when/if the weather warms up. Will gladly pay for the bolts and posting costs, Ken

I dont think I beat Lee on the time taken to drop this lot.....but it was close    =))=))=))

Nice one mate, those rounded bolt removers work well.

Tony.

You nailed it mate. That’s the hard bit done.

I have to get the flanges separated on the exhaust manifold yet, where I just cut the pipes off, but somehow that doesn’t seem quite so daunting now I have managed to get this lump out.

( beware of visitors bearing crusty lumps of metal at some point soon !!!! =)) )

This week is perfect. I have a delay at the powder coaters so I have a few days spare.

keep it going Malc routing for you mate well done.

In readiness for the strip down tomorrow, I have been out to spray all the fixings on the beam assembly. I took and subsequently have been looking at photos taken of the beam assembly, and realised there is not much of it that will actually be kept.

Everything on the braking system will be renewed, Back plates are shot and as for shot blasting the bearings have to come out.....I assume its not worth putting old ones back in......( I’m sure thats what Lee will recommend. ) all the rubber bushes will be renewed, most of the nuts and bolts, so It would appear that all I’m left with is the Beam, trailing arms , diff , drive shafts, ARB, and some plastic clips......and possibly the arb brackets.....everything else is pants !!!!!! :arghh:
One of the springs is good the other looks like it will snap at any moment , the two bottom spring mounts are crap, but the top ones are ok.......Shocks seem to be ok.....but I will have to put the roof up to get them out ( which means reconnecting the switch and turning the ignition on,) so for now they can stay where they are.

Still should be fun tomorrow :)

To put the roof up, just slacken the valve on the roof motor and lift it manually, acouple of minutes job.
