Hi, my name is Richard and I'm a new member, I have recently bought a 1998 Z3 1.9 litre in silver with red leather, electric seats and hood with 63,00 documented miles. One of my oldest friends bought it for his wife about 12 or so years ago and she only does 3,000 miles a year hence the low mileage. About 5 years ago I decided to revisit my youth and wanted to buy a TR5 or 6 like I had back in the 1970s.... Then I saw how much they were now!! Plus they're mostly in very poor condition for the money I wanted to spend to get a traditional roadster. So I started asking/nagging them to sell it to me one day, that eventually happened last month and I'm now getting to know the car.
I'm very pleased with it, the car has been garaged from new and apart from a graze on every corner due to her only being 4ft 11 tall and unable to see the corners!
I've had the paintwork done by a proper paint shop and it now looks like new again. I will post some pictures in a day or two.
There is only one problem, when I got it the mileometer was reading perfectly, I pressed the trip button and now I have no mileage reading. I haven't had a chance to have it looked at yet but wondered whether anyone else had come across this problem? It is due a service as the lights are showing that one is nearly due

Hi Richard and welcome near Lincoln. Re the trip recorder try checking that the re-set button has fully returned to its "out" position. If it hasn't it may stop the mileage showing? Just a thought. Z3 instrument binnacle easy to remove if you need to.

Tony.

ps. Where abouts are you located?

Not sure on the mileage vanishing but sounds like you have bagged a nice example !
Looking forward to the pictures :welcome:

Hi from central Canada! You'll love the 1.9 as it's as bulletproof as any engine can be! Much better option than the triumphs I'd say!! JIM

Hi @Richard B,:welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire.
