I have used search and have not found a definitive answer. Does anyone know if a 17 inch space saver will fit under the car? If so any idea on wheel and tyre size. I am sure the 16 inch oem spare would be OK on the front but it might give the LSD in the rear a really hard time, 1999 2.8 roadster.

Cheers

You can just read the size. I have 17 inch alloys as a factory size on my z3.

The OEM spare is the same rolling radius as the factory 17 inch wheels. The only recommendation is switch off the DSC/ASC and stick to 50mph.

I might be confused. I thought my stock wheels were 16 inch. Have to check. Thanks

Mike was saying 17 as a lot of the 6cyl engines has staggered 17 inch wheels
But they also come with 16 inch square set
But either way as said above its all about the rolling radius
ie the distance it travels horizontally in one revolution.
The 16 and 17 have as good as the same rolling radius and so does the space saver spare.

Stephen.

The smaller diameter wheel would have have a higher aspect ratio tyre to give the same rolling radius as the 17 inch.

I put a 175/65 on my 15" space saver, I had to extend the hangers about 10mm to fit it in its place, but it does not cause any issues in use with 295 / 30,s and 275 / 30,s staggered..on 20" rims.. You would think it should cause issues but no, all good.. And I also did away that silly remote filling hose on the carrier, likely to cause more inconvenience than its supposed to prevent, ask me how I know...
